Side-Line review of Aeon Xpand

May 1, 2008

Nearly one year after their debut-cd "Open Aeon" the Australian Empty project strikes back with a kind of expansion to their debut. We here get some remixed songs of this debut-cd and a new song as well. "Castrated" is the new song opening this ep. It"s an interesting piece of music delivering some refreshing electronics. The whispering male vocals are a little bit distorted this way injecting a spooky power to the song. The song was remixed by Zintek in a more space-trip-hop way while the In-Tranzit remix is pure sensation! This version is quite repetitive, but it swings while the deep bass sound has been extra accentuated being simply irresistible! The other songs left are remixes of "Alone", "Scarred" and "Torn". The "JVL 7" Construction Remix" of "Scarred" is quite well crafted and brings a harder note to this release. The "Process Void Ripped remix" of "Torn" is another cool piece, which is more into a kind of space-electronics. Empty remains a project with its very own approach in electronics and a kind of progressive electro-pop music!

The new album "Surfacing" is now available

Empty - Surfacing

A breath of badly needed fresh air.

- Rick Gallo (Arable Farmland - Chicago, USA)

Complex and melodic, with an underlying current of desperation.
